There is nowhere else on Earth quite like South Asia. I’ve yet to find any words to describe India, a country which will forever have a special place in my heart. Its more mellow cousin Sri Lanka is equally bursting with charm, friendliness and amazing scenery. You could spend years of your life travelling this area of the world and not even scratch the surface. Oh… the food, the traffic, the sounds, the smells, the colours, the Taj. Truly, if I were to recommend only one country in the world for someone to travel to, it would be India. It’s not easy, it’s (mostly) not relaxing but my God, it’s the adventure of a lifetime.
An assault on the senses is probably the best description I’ve seen of India. This is a country that doesn’t stop surprising, doesn’t stop inspiring and doesn’t stop infuriating. Everything, from the food to the people to the transport to the sights, is an adventure. For better or for worse, this is a country that will have a profound effect on you.
It might look small compared to its super-sized neighbour, but Sri Lanka manages to pack a lot in. More than just being India-lite, the island boasts perfect beaches; warm, friendly people and a feeling that its potential hasn’t quite been unlocked yet. I think the best is yet to come.
